Larry Silverman, CPA, CFP®
Larry’s financial planning career began in 1988 while working as a tax partner in an accounting firm, Hoffman Pederson. The firm supported Larry’s desire to develop this specialty, encouraging him to take on financial planning as an adjunct service. In 1999, Larry’s focus changed to financial planning, though he continued to offer tax work as an adjunct service.
Larry received the Top Advisory Sales award from LPL Financial in 2001. He achieved the status of Chairman’s Council from 2001-2004 and 2008 – 2011. During the 2005-2007 time period, LPL selected Larry for the apex of recognition for their organization, the Executive Council.Chairman’s and Executive’s Council distinctions are based on an annual production ranking of registered financial advisors supported by LPL Financial, and represents less than 2% of the firm’s advisors nationwide.
Larry’s 38+ years experience includes IRS audits, negotiations, penalty abatement and settlement work. That experience, combined with financial expertise and a strong focus on managing accounts which mirror the relationship-driven value system, allows Larry to create financial plans that help individuals and couples work toward creating their personal legacy.
An entertaining speaker, Larry enjoys providing informational presentations on an assortment of topics. He gives workshops and seminars to a variety of executive and professional groups such as the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Dallas, Greater Dallas Board of Realtors, Oak Cliff Realty Club, American Association of Individual Investors, Cigna Individual Financial Services Company, USS Oil Well Company, and also participated as a member of the United Way Speakers Bureau. Topics for workshops and seminars include tax, financial planning, charitable campaigns and asset protection issues. Larry also taught at various high schools, providing information relating to taxpayer community services and education, and worked as an adjunct Professor for several years with The University of North Texas teaching the tax related portion of the Certified Financial Planning program for the Professional Development Institute.
Larry is passionate about community service, and is the current treasurer for FIRST (Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types) and an active member of the Community Action Committee for the Stonebriar Village Homeowners Association. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Community Home for Adults, worked as the JCC Junior Sports Chairman and Youth Committee, and participated on the JCC Budget Committee. Larry was a Big Brother in the Big Brothers and Sisters of Dallas for many years, and received their award for merit.
Larry loves all kinds of sports. He coached children’s softball, baseball, soccer, and basketball teams for years, which allowed him to become a positive influence in the lives of the many youngsters he was privileged to mentor. He is a long term participant in the Temple Shalom adult softball league, frequently leading his teams to championship as the coach. Larry received numerous awards from this league, and was inducted into the Shalom Hall of Fame for leadership, outstanding service, dedication, and many years as the league’s commissioner. Following all major league sports teams and spending time on the golf course are also activities Larry enjoys.
Larry resides in Frisco with his wife Sandy. Together, they have three children, Michael, Rachel and John, and four grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel, Isaac and Ariana. Larry’s hobbies include golf, movies, books, and beach vacations.
